Job Description
JCL is currently recruiting for Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians for our Project locations in Labrador and our garage in Corner Brook..
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing equipment.
· Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the equipment's breakdown or damage.
· Follow a checklist to ensure that each critical part of the equipment is examined.
· Watch or inspect closely parts like hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, and other possible troublesome items.
· Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor.
· Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults.
· Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of equipment including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.
· Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
· Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups.
· Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.
· Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit.
· Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance.
· Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
· Heavy equipment mechanic trade certification or equivalent experience
· Efficient problem solving skills.
· Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications.
· Should be able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
· Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
· High level of integrity and work ethic.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
· Is able to work independently, managing his or her time and work flow.
